I'd imagine he would be eligible for such an
exemption ... but I don't imagine he'll need it.
He was likely to go pro before his senior year
anyhow.
 
It is also possible that he has played his last
game for the Gophers. Once he gets clearance to
play, he may opt to go pro right away in light of
the injury.
