Can somebody tell me why the ECAC uses a "3-point series" format (first
team to earn three points, advances) for their quarterfinal round instead
of a "best of three" with overtimes each night? The current format appears
to place excessive importance on winning Game #1 of the series and also
seems calculated to diminish the need for a third and deciding game.....
because any lead generated in Game #2 by a first night winner automatically
becomes one goal more than the scoreboard shows from the standpoint of
their opposition and a first night tie produces a winner-take-all second
game. Let's Go Bruno!
