Colorado Colorado struggled to keep MTU from tying the game late Saturday
as they hung on to a slim 4-3 lead.  In five on five play, MTU was the better
team but this was a Yackel game: CC scored three times on specialty play.  With
this game CC retains the WCHA's McNaughton Cup.
 
The first period was marked by early penalties and CC managed to overpower
MTU's penalty killers for three scores. On the the frist, Fearns scored when
a shot stopped by Kucway continued to crawl into the net.  On the 2nd, CC got
a 2 on 0 break at the net. On the third, Gudmanson capitalized on a clearing
mistake by MTU's Craig Perrett at the the blueline.
 
Yackel decided to call penalties on CC during the first part of the 2nd period
but MTU could not make hay. At 13:29, Jimmie Roy got a break on CC's power
play and back handed a shot past Bach for MTU's first score. CC got a late period
score when Schimdt lifted the puck over Kucway.
 
MTU's Jimmie Roy back handed another shot past Bach off a Sutton rebound.
Jason Wright got a point blast to finish the night's action.
