Notes taken from the Coaches Show.. Shawn Walsh is out recruiting this week,
so Greg Cronin filled it.

- The first topic was about the OSU coaching situation, and Cronin felt that
perhaps it was time for a change there. They also said that OSU will be
building a new rink after this season is completed.
- Joe and Greg talked alot about recruiting, and it is interesting the stats
teams put together to interest players. For instance, Cronin said that
Maine over the last 3 seasons (of course ommitting last seasons debacile, or
as Cronin put it "Last year when the Olympics depleated our roster") Maine's
record is 99-7-10. Not too bad by any stretch.
- Blair Allison set school records this weekend for games played, minutes
played, and wins. What was interesting is Cronin says this could not have
been acheived without the help of backups Greg Hirsch, and the Maine closer,
Blair Marsh. Cronin said that Allison would be the first to credit these
guys, because they push him to play his best.
- Talked a little bit about red-shirts though not really specific as to "how
many" games can be played. Cronin did say that he thought Maine was
successful at developing red-shirts into good players, and most importantly
keeping them interested.
- Jeff Tory was named Hockey East Co-Player of the Week for his six assist
weekend. Greg Bullock of UMass-Lowell was the other honoree.
- Thought the break came at a good time, because Cronin thought that the
intensity of preparation to play, and keep ahead of BU had mental, not
physical strain on the team.
- Injury situation appears to be fine, Shawn Wansborough will return for the
stretch run to the playoffs.
- Former Maine player Patrice Tardiff scored his first NHL goal for the St.
Louis Blues.
- Cronin talked to former Maine star, Jim Montgomery the day he was traded
to Philidelphia, and Montgomery was really excited. Montgomery didn't think
that Montreal coach Jack Demur(sp) really had much confidence in him because
of his size at center. Montgomery was excited to play for a team (the
Flyers) who are less concerned with his size. Incidently, Jimmy had an
assist last night.

The Maine Stats Update, and the Troy Record Poll will follow this message.
