BAUER/CCHA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brian Holzinger, a senior center from
Bowling Green State University, has been selected Bauer/CCHA Offensive Player
of the Week for his performance the week of December 28-29, 1994. He played
junior hockey for the Detroit Junior Red Wings (NAJHL) and was selected by the
Buffalo Sabres in the June 1991 National Hockey League entry draft.
Holzinger, a 5-11, 185-pound native of Parma, Ohio, had eight points in the
Falcons two games in the Badger Show- down in Milwaukee. He had all three BG
goals in a 4-3 double overtime loss to Wisconsin. In BG's 7-4 third place game
win over Northeastern, Holzinger had two goals and three assists and was named
tournament MVP.
COOPER/CCHA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Steven Halko, a junior defenseman
from the University of Michigan, has been selected Cooper/CCHA Defensive Player
of the Week for the weekend of December 29-30, 1994. He played junior hockey
for the Thornhill (Ontario) Thunderbirds and was selected by the Hartford
Whalers in the June 1992 National Hockey League entry draft.
Halko, a 6-1, 199-pound native of Bolton, Ontario, was a key member of the
Wolverines defense which shutout Michigan Tech and held MTU and Michigan State
to a combined 0-for-6 on the power play. He was +6 for the GLI.
