DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIP STORY ....

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) -- Russ Johnson scored at 4:44 of the third
period Saturday as Wisconsin-River Falls beat Wisconsin-Superior
6-4 Saturday for the NCAA Division III hockey championship.
Fredonia State, N.Y., finished third by beating Salem State,
Mass., 7-4.
River Falls (22-7-4) led 4-2 after two periods. Johnson
scored off an assist by Brandon Ferraro, who had scored River
Falls' second goal.
Superior (21-8-4) closed to 5-4 but Brian Wilson added a
Falcons score with 2:27 remaining.
It is their second Division III championship, following
a victory in 1988.
The Falcons were runners-up to Stevens Point in last year's
tournament.
In the third-place match, Jeff Lupu scored three goals and
set up another for Fredonia State.

RED BERENSON STORY ....

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan hockey coach Red Berenson
pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of impaired driving, officials
said.
In exchange for Berenson's plea Friday, the Ann Arbor city
attorney's office dropped two other charges of drunken driving
and urinating in public. The charges stemmed from a Wednesday
morning incident outside an Ann Arbor bar.
Berenson, 54, faces up to 90 days in jail and a $300 fine
at sentencing April 22. As part of the plea agreement, he agreed
to perform 32 hours of community service and pay $100 in court costs.
Berenson is in his 10th season as coach at Michigan. He was
named Central Collegiate Hockey Association coach of the year on
Thursday night.
