I haven't see this in the log file yet:

St. Cloud 3
Minnesota 5

This game got a little ugly -- well, make that a lot ugly. Someone must have
put something in Huskies' goalie Grant Sjerven's puppy chow. He took a slashing
penalty in the second period, and with about 7 minutes to go in the third period
Gopher Tony Bianchi was checked into the net and Sjerven took the opportunity to
punch him several times in the head, in full view of those of us at that end of
the rink, but maybe not of the referees. Sjerven was given only a 2-minute
roughing minor on the play, a decision the referees may have come to regret
later in the game. While Sjerven's minor was being served, we had a scary
moment when senior Eric Means took a forearm to the head and had to be removed
from the ice on a stretcher. (Apparently he only had a mild concussion, but I'm
sure that's not the way he wanted to leave the game on Senior Night.) No
penalty was called. But St. Cloud continued its self-destruction by taking 4
penalties in the last 4 minutes of the game. With 10 seconds left in the game
Sjerven and Jeff Nielsen went after each other (John Gilbert's article in the
Star-Tribune says Sjerven started it by slashing Nielsen) and Sjerven received a
5 minute major and game DQ (I think; that's how it was announced, but the Strib
box today says a misconduct, although Gilbert writes about him being out of
tonight's game.) Nielsen got a double minor.

To his credit, St. Cloud coach Craig Dahl was very irritated at his team for
their lack of discipline, and is talking of benching some of the culprits
tonight.
