Tonight Boston University defeated Maine, 5-1.
 
This game was not as seat-riveting as lasts night's overtime affair, but it
was a very good game from a BU standpoint.
 
Although outshot (don't know exact numbers), BU had far better scoring
opportunities and also capitalized on them.  BU pretty much had the advantage
in all three periods and never let up or got too emotional.  The game was not
as rough as last nights game as both teams seemed to be there to play hockey.
 
The crowd was just as big as last night, but neither the Maine nor BU fans
had quite the energy as they did last night (maybe the OT wore them out?).
 
 
 
One down note:  Early in the third period, after a BU puck-carrier got tangled
up with a Maine defenseman after charging over the line, they both fell to the
ice and slid towards the net.  The BU player slid harmlessly past the net, but,
as Blair Alison was extending his leg to make the save, the Maine defenseman
crashed into him, injuring Alison.  It took awhile before he was helped/half
carried off the ice.  Hopefully, it is just a groinpull, but it did not look
good by the way his extended leg was hit (from my angle) and how much in pain
he was as he was being led off the ice.
 
 
One positive note:  As BU's defensemen return to action and the core begins to
pull together, BU's goaltending is really shining.  BU has now let up only 1
goal in its last three games (vs. NU, Maine, and Maine), and this with the
defensive core still not quite there yet. (They're there in body, but they're
not quite THERE yet.)

PS - Is Ron Mason really the best coach in the nation, or does Michigan just
match-up badly with Michigan State?  Just a question.
