Cornell No Win At Home
 
The Big Red men's hockey team is developing an interesting phenomenon which
I'll call "Kevorkian home-ice advantage."
 
So far, the Red is undefeated (2-0-2) on the road, playing their ECAC
opponents.  The Red at home, in the "friendly" confines of Lynah Rink, where
steep traditions have been passed down for generations, has so far unable to
post a win.  So much for home-ice advantage.  So much for Cornell charging all
of us a TON of money to go to these games.
 
By my count, since the season began officially, I'm 0 for $57 in terms of
win-loss economic value (and double the amount when you include my wife, who
for the first time in her life, holds a full set of season tickets).  When will
I see a winning home game?  When we play Union on Jan 7?  I can't help but
recall the two humiliating defeats at home by Union in the last two years.  The
next time the icers take to Lynah, they will play the Dutchmen.  Will I go over
the half-way mark as a season ticket holder and still have not seen a winning
game?
 
I'm frustrated and disappointed because I don't like making unsound investment.
 This year's Cornell hockey has not turned out to be a good financial
investment thus far.
