Denver Cup to have Tie-Breaking "Shoot-out"

What is believed to be a college hockey first, the inaugural Denver
Cup hosted by the University of Denver with Air Force, Notre Dame and
Army will have a 5 man shoot-out of the games end in a tie after the 5
minute overtime.

The opening round games (Air Force vs. Notre Dame and DU vs. Army)
as well as the consolation game will use this format. Prior to each of the
games each coach will turn in a list of five players and if the game and
overtime end in a tie then the five man shootout will be used.

As far as NCAA win/loss records are concerned, the game(s) that use
the shoot-out will be recorded as a tie in their NCAA record, but they will
advance in the tournament.

The Denver Cup will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 29
& 30, 1992 at the University of Denver's Arena. Tickets are almost gone as
all seats except the student seats in the balcony have been sold. Capacity
at the DU Arena is 4700.

The DU-Army game and the Championship game will both be broadcast by
Prime Sports (live) and will be shown at 7PM (MT).
