The Hartford Whalers recalled goaltender Corrie D'Alessio from their
Springfield, MA AHL team yesterday. Frank Pietrangelo will be out 4-6
weeks with a slight fracture of his right kneecap.
 
D'Alessio was an outstanding goaltender for Cornell from 1987/8
through 1990/1, during which he led the team to 3 ECAC Final Four
appearances, and one NCAA bid.
 
He joins Joe Nieuwendyk (CGY), Brian Hayward (SJ), and Kent
Manderville (TOR) as Cornellians in The Show. Dan Ratushny (IHL) is
hopefully not far away, while Parris Duffus just took a step
backwards, demoted from the Blues' IHL to their ECHL affiliate. I've
also noticed Doug Dadswell, Doug Derraugh, and Alex Nikolic (?!)
bouncing around in the minors.
