If it has happened before, it probably wasn't in another year when Red's
early season comment rated the current team as an improvement over the
prior. Possibly it was last time Michigan finished 7th in the
conference? Unless they pull off a tournament coup in a conference
where the top team outdistanced everyone else by 20 points, the longest
current string of NCAA tournament appearences is about to end.
Possibly, that's the hockey team's show of solidarity with the football
squad.
Another CCHA strangism is a team coached by Jeff Jackson finishing 9th.
Has that ever happened in the history of the world?
