Thanks for the link and an interesting story in the Gazette.

Of course this goes on with lots of teams and when crucial players are
injured it has a greater impact on a team prospects. On the flip side it
seems that teams that manage to stay healthy can achieve more that might
have been expected.

I do know that two important starters for Cornell this year Scott and
Pegoraro had surgery after the season was over. Based on a very serious
looking brace/cast one defender was playing with a broken bone or other
serious injury in the hand or forearm. Another defender seemed to me to
have his skating seriously impaired.

Coach Schafer is as silent about injuries as Coach Owens probably for the
same reasons. It also occurs to me that student records (including medical
records) are confidential and the coaches may not be at liberty to release
such information. Anyway, here at Cornell we get almost no information
about injuries. If you see someone go down and not pay the next game you
can guess there may be an injury. Or if you see someone come back after
missing a few games who does not seem to have the jump or shot or
physicality they used to have you can guess there are lingering
effect. However, in the cases of Scott & Pegoraro I did not have a clue
while the season was under way. They both played with great intensity.
