PRZEPIORKA LEADS DARTMOUTH TO BIG WIN
Junior forward's hat trick leads Big Green to 9-1 win over men's hockey

Dartmouth College scored two goals in each of the first two periods before
exploding for five more in the third for a 9-1 win over Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in an ECAC Hockey League men's hockey game at
the Houston Field House in Troy, N.Y. The Big Green was led by junior
forward Eric Przepiorka, who had four points, including his first career
hat trick.

With the victory, Dartmouth improves to 6-6-2 overall and 4-4-0 in the
ECACHL. The Engineers fall to 9-11-2 overall and 2-6-1 in the league.

The Big Green jumped out to their first period lead with a pair of goals
from the left faceoff circle. On its first, which came at the 7:10 mark,
freshman right wing Nick Johnson sent a pass from the right half boards to
senior Lee Stempniak, who beat Jordan Alford with a hard
wristshot. Dartmouth scored a similar goal, this time by senior defenseman
John Ostapyk, at the 11:15 mark. Tanner Glass and Nathan Szymanski were
credited with the assists on the play.

Dartmouth increased its lead to 4-0 before RPI got on the board late in the
second period. Przepiorka made it 3-0 with a slap shot into the upper
right corner just 2:50 into the middle stanza. That goal, which was
assisted on by sophomore defenseman Grant Lewis, chased Alford. The Big
Green got its fourth goal with six minutes remaining when sophomore
defenseman Ben Lovejoy scored past senior Andrew Martin. Rensselaer closed
to within three goals on a snap shot from senior defenseman Matt McNeely at
the 16:12 mark. Freshman Andrew Lord, who won the face off back to Lord,
earned the only assist on the goal, which came with the Engineers on a
power play.

The Big Green exploded for five goals in the third period, including two by
Przepiorka. Junior defenseman Garrett Overlock, Glass, a sophomore
forward, and junior forward Chris Snizek also tallied for the final margin.

Seven players finished with multiple points for Dartmouth. Besides
Przepiorka and Glass, Stempniak had a goal and an assist, while Johnson,
Szymanski, Lewis and Jarrett Sampson each had two assists. Sophomore Sean
Samuel earned the win in goal, making 27 saves, to improve to 4-1-1.

Alford, who re-entered the game early in the third period, finished with
nine saves in the loss (5-4-1) while Martin stopped 11 shots.

Rensselaer returns home on Saturday when they host the University of
Vermont, the 14th-ranked team in the nation, at 7pm in an ECACHL
contest. Dartmouth plays at league foe Union College on Saturday at 7pm.
