After setting a new Brown all-time career shutout record (5) last night,
Bear goaltender Yann Danis smothered 35 more shots this evening as
undefeated Brown subdued the Dartmouth Big Green, 4-2, at Meehan Auditorium
for their third consecutive conference victory to start the ECAC regular
season.

This was a very uptempo game as both teams looked for turnovers that
they could convert into goals. Dartmouth went with junior goaler Darren
Gastrock in net and the Bears collected first period goals from junior
forward Adam Saunders and sophomore winger Les Haggett to take early control
of the game. Dartmouth answered the first Bear goal at 4:28 with a power
play goal at 7:15 to break Danis' shutout streak which had extended into a
third game (all good things must end). But Brown came right back at 7:50 to
regain the lead which they would hold into the third period.

The Big Green got the equalizer at 2:15 of the final stanza before Bear
junior forward Pascal Denis took a nifty pass from sophomore forward Brent
Robinson and beat Gastrock from just outside the crease. Brown senior
defenseman Paul Esdale clinched the victory with an open net goal at 19:48.

Looking a lot like a serious contender, the Bears now gear up for a
daunting two-week stretch that has them making consecutive road trips: to
the North Country next weekend for games with Clarkson (at Cheel on Friday)
and St. Lawrence (at Appleton on Saturday); then back on the bus the
following week to play Colgate (at Starr on Friday) and #8 nationally-ranked
Cornell (at Lynah on Saturday). All are huge match-ups and the results will
go a long way to determine whether the Bears can lay claim to a favorable
position in the early ECAC standings. As a matter of fact, Brown will
complete their three longest ECAC road trips by the weekend of December 6-7
when they visit Yale (Fri.) and Princeton (Sat.) to wind-up the pre-holiday
portion of their schedule.

Meanwhile, for the 3-0 Bears, the beat goes on.
