Tonight's 53rd annual Pike's Peak Hockey Club Banquet produced the
following news:

Next year's BC captains: Ben Eaves, captain; J.D. Forrest and Anthony
D'Arpino, assistant captains.

Joe Morgan (ex-Red Sox manager) accepted awards in honor of the 50th
anniversary (1951-52 team). Joe was the leading scorer for that team.

Academic awards: Senior w/highest GPA - Jeff Giuliano (2001-02 captain)
         Academic Achievement - Ales Dolinar (2001-02 co-captain)

Bernie Burke Outstanding Freshman Award - Ryan Shannon (this was the first
time this award was presented.)

John A. (Snooks) Kelley Memorial Award (player who best typifies BC
hockey) - Jeff Giuliano and Ales Dolinar

William J. Flynn Coaches' Award - Ben Eaves, J.D. Forrest

James E. Tiernan Memorial Award (most improved player) - A.J. Walker and
Anthony D'Arpino

Norman F. Dailey Memorial Award (most valuable player) - Tony Voce

The only departing seniors were Jeff Giuliano and Ales Dolinar. Assistant
Coach Scott Paluch has accepted the post as head coach at Bowling Green.
According to Coach York, BC has received at least 35 applicants for the
vacant assistant coach job.

Perhaps the only surprising notes were the assistant captaincy for Tony
D'Arpino, a player that most people overlook when discussing the Eagles,
and Tony Voce wryly thanking Ben Eaves for getting injured, otherwise he
(Eaves) would have been up there accepting the MVP award. :-))

A much smaller crowd than last year for the banquet, to no one's surprise;
national championships have a way of bringing out even the more casual fans
to celebrate.
