FREGOE NETS TWO... Peter Fregoe (Massena, N.Y.) tallied two goals in the
Friars' 5-3 upset victory over Boston College on February 9.  This season,
Fregoe has recorded 10 goals and 13 assists in 28 games.  Fregoe has
recorded six multiple-point games this season and 15 in his career.

SCHAEFER RECORDS 10th WIN.. Nolan Schaefer (Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan)
recorded 28 saves in the Friars' 5-3 win over Boston College on February
9.  The victory over BC was Schaefer's 10th win of the season.  In 16
games, the sophomore netminder has posted a 10-5-1 record with a 1.96 goals
against average and a .936 save percentage.

LOUGHLEAN RECORDS GAME-WINNER...Freshman Cody Loughlean (Innisfail,
Alberta) netted the game-winning goal in the Friars' 5-3 win over Boston
College on February 9.  The Friars' held a one-goal lead in the third
period before Loughlean broke in one-on-one on BC goaltender Scott
Clemmensen and beat scored the Friars' fourth goal of the night.  This
season, Loughlean has tallied four goals and two assists in 28 games.

FRIARS SPLIT THE WEEKEND...The Friars' record stands at 16-8-4 overall and
10-6-2 in HOCKEY EAST play after a win over No. 1 ranked Boston College
(5-3) on February 9 and a loss at New Hampshire (3-1) on February 10.  On
February 9, the Friars defeated top-ranked Boston College, 5-3, at
Schneider Arena.  The win marked the Friars' first victory over a
top-ranked team since the squad defeated Boston University, 5-4, in the
HOCKEY EAST Semifinals on March 3, 1996 at the FleetCenter. Versus Boston
College, junior Peter Fregoe paced the Friars' offense tallying two goals
while Doug Wright added one goal and two assists.  Senior Heath Gordon
recorded his second-career three-point night as he dished out three
assists.  Shawn Weiman and Cody Loughlean each added a goal for PC.  Nolan
Schaefer stopped 28 shots for his 10th win of the season.  On February 10,
Devin Rask tallied the game's first goal and gave the Friars a 1-0 lead
after the opening 20-minutes of play.  However, the Wildcats responded with
three, second-period goals in their 3-1 victory.  The Friars were out shot
by a 30-16 margin.  Boyd Ballard recorded 27 saves for PC.

RASK LEADS THE OFFENSE... Sophomore Devin Rask tallied his team-leading
37th point (16 goals, 21 assists) in the Friars' 3-1 loss at New Hampshire
on February 9.  This season, the Friars are 14-3-1 when Rask tallies at
least one point and are 2-5-3 in the games he has been held pointless.

WRIGHT BREAKS-OUT...Sophomore Doug Wright missed 10 games this season due
to a broken hand suffered versus Maine on November 3.  Since returning to
the line-up, Wright has recorded just four points in 10 games for the
Friars.  On February 9, the sophomore centerman recorded his first career
multiple-point game in the squad's 5-3 win over Boston College and earned
the ITECH No. 1 star.  Wright tallied one goal and two assists in the
victory.  This season, he has recorded two goals and eight assists in 18
games for the Friars.

BALLARD'S CAREER...Senior goaltender Boyd Ballard has appeared in 94 career
games for the Friars and ranks fourth all-time at Providence in games
played by a goaltender, one game behind former Friar Bill Milner ' 79.  In
Ballard's 94 games he has recorded 2,428 saves placing him fifth all-time
in saves at PC.

Next FOR the FRIARS... The Friars will host the Boston University Terriers
on February 16 and then travel to BU's Walter Brown Arena on February 17.

THE Providence-BOSTON UNIVERSITY ALL-TIME Series... Friday's game will be
the 122nd meeting between the two schools.  BU leads the all-time series
75-38-8.  PC is 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams.  The
two teams first met on February 25, 1927 with Boston University defeating
Providence, 12-0, at Rhode Island Auditorium.  The loss to the Terriers was
one of seven defeats the Friars suffered in their first season of
collegiate competition (1-7-0).  The Friars' last win against the Terriers
was a 5-2 victory on February 18, 2000 at Schneider Arena.  PC's last lost
to BU was a 4-3 defeat at Walter Brown Arena on February 19, 2000.  In
their last meeting, the two teams skated to a 4-4 tie on October 28, 2000
at PC's Schneider Arena.

BU vs. PC AT SCHNEIDER ARENA...  The Friars have posted a 19-19-4 record
against BU at Schneider Arena, including a 4-1-1 mark in the last six PC
home games.  In PC's last game against BU at Schneider Arena, the Friars
and Terriers skated to a 4-4 tie, on October 28, 2000.  PC's last win over
the Terriers at Schneider Arena was a 5-2 defeat on February 18, 2000.  The
Friars' last loss to the Terriers at Schneider Arena was an 8-2 defeat on
March 13, 1999 in the second game of the Hockey East Quarterfinals.

BU vs. PC AT WALTER BROWN ARENA...The Friars have posted a 10-22-3 record
against BU at Walter Brown Arena.  PC's last win against BU at Walter Brown
Arena was a 6-4 victory on October 31, 1998.  PC's last loss to BU at
Walter Brown Arena was a 4-3 defeat on February 19, 2000.

THIS SEASON VS. BOSTON UNIVERSITY...On October 28, 2000 the Friars skated
to a 4-4 tie with the Boston University Terriers.  It marked the first time
that the Friars opened the HOCKEY EAST regular season with a tie since
November 9, 1990 versus BU, 3-3.  The Friars took a 2-0 first period lead
on goals from Jon DiSalvatore and Adam Lee.  The Terriers responded with
three unanswered goals before the Friars' J.J. Picinic tied the game at
three.  The Terriers broke the 3-3 tie at the 16:46 mark on Greg Johnson's
first collegiate goal.  PC's Devin Rask notched the game's final goal with
1:33 to play in regulation.  Boyd Ballard made 32 stops for the Friars.
