We have a tie at the top and a tie at the bottom of this week's Hockey-L poll. North Dakota and Michigan State finished in a tie for first place, with 199 points and 7 first-place votes each, while Rensselaer and Northern Michigan finished tied for 11th, with 22 points each. BC and Michigan were again third and fourth, with BC widening its margin over the Wolverines. The top 8 teams appeared on all the votes, again with the 9th-rated team (Minnesota) appearing on all but one.

The WCHA and CCHA each have four teams in the top 12. Hockey East now has three teams, as Maine dropped out, and the ECAC has its first representation in the poll, as Rensselaer jumps in.

The "Wild spread of the week" award goes to Western Michigan who got one
2nd-place vote, and one 11th-place vote.

We had 18 votes this week, 12 West (9 WCHA, 3 CCHA) and 6 East (5 HEA, 1 ECAC).
Since one voter only submitted a Top 10, we have three hanging chad points.
We also had three computer rankings. I've made a separate calculation of the results with them included. Their effect is to push Michigan State past Notre Dame, Minnesota ahead of St. Cloud and Rensselaer ahead of Northern Michigan.

Here are the results:
    Team Points Votes LW
 1t North Dakota (7) 199 18 1
 1t Michigan State (7) 199 18 2
 3 Boston College (3) 181 18 3
 4 Michigan (1) 166 18 4
 5 New Hampshire 133 18 5
 6 Western Michigan 119 18 6
 7 Colorado College 117 18 7
 8 St. Cloud State 85 18 8
 9 Minnesota 79 17 10
10 Providence 36 14 9
11t Northern Michigan 22 9 12
11t Rensselaer 22 7 RV
Others receiving votes (votes-points): Wisconsin (9-15), Ohio State (7-10),
Denver (3-8), Maine (3-7), Cornell (1-3)

And if we include the three computer rankings:
    Team Points Votes
 1 Michigan State (10) 235 21
 2 North Dakota (7) 228 21
 3 Boston College (3) 211 21
 4 Michigan (1) 193 21
 5 New Hampshire 154 21
 6 Western Michigan 147 21
 7 Colorado College 125 21
 8 Minnesota 89 19
 9 St. Cloud State 88 20
10 Providence 42 16
11 Rensselaer 37 10
12 Northern Michigan 22 9
Others receiving votes (votes-points): Wisconsin (9-15), Ohio State (8-15), Quinnipiac (3-9), Denver (3-8), Maine (3-7), Mercyhurst (1-4), Union (1-3), Cornell (1-3)
