A few years back, RIT "fans" would throw orange tennis balls at the Oswego
goalie after the first RIT goal (hey, it beats throwing dead gophers :-).
Oswego was/is a pretty big rival and they used to come to RIT on "Orange
Night", orange being one of the RIT colors.
Some of you may remember a Syracuse-Georgetown B-ball game 5 or so years ago
when someone threw an -orange- at the backboard just as Patrick Ewing was
making a free throw. Well, you guessed it - at the RIT-Oswego game that year,
real oranges replaced the orange tennis balls. I never did find out what
started the initial throwing of tennis balls, but it hasn't happened in recent
years.
