I am from Amsterdam NY and during my high school career, I went to a
lot of Union games at Achilles....apathy is far from what I saw.
At least half the fans had horns or cowbells. The studnets section was
always louder than the rest of the stadium. The pep band was great,
good music choices and good players.
If you want to see apathy, take a trip up here to the University of
Maine at Orono, yup, the college with all of the NCAA sanctions against
it. Here is apathy. The students don't cheer, you barely hear the Blue
line club (the student pep club) and the band is, well, it's there. The
fans, they cheer louder for a coach that got them into more hot water,
yet can't aknowledge the ability of their players. It's disgusting to
watch the fans sit there and watch the game without saying a word.
Atleast at Union there were reactions from the fans, not here.
