I'm trying to keep a running tab of the questions, discusions, and posits
being posted that seem to truly breed a good deal of controversy,
disagreement, flames, etc... at the end of the season, I'd like to re-post
this list, and see if/how people's opinions change after they've looked
back on them.
 
 
Here's my current list; if there's something I've left off, please let me know!
 
 
o  Face shields/cages vs. open-face helmets:
        Do they increase or decrease injuries?
        Do they decrease the player's ability or skill?
 
o  College hockey players as "employees:"
        Are the players being screwed, or are they very fortunate?
        Should players be rewarded based on their on-ice performance?
 
o  College coaches recruiting Junior players:
        Is this unfair to high school kids?
        Who's there for the education, who's there for the hockey?
        Is it "right" to "encourage" kids to play Junior before College?
        Should the NCAA rule Major Junior players ineligible?
 
o  Polling and ranking systems:
        The RPI: does it work during the season?
        The RPI: does it work at the end of the season?
        Which system, if any, is the best?
        Most accurate?
        Best for predictions?
        Coaches' and Media polls: more bias than fact?
        How do the coaches feel about the polls?
 
o  College goaltenders:
        Should they be treated differently -- are they "special?"
 
o  Maine's violations:
        Are they getting off "too easy?"
        Should their 1993 National Championship be revoked?
        Is Shawn Walsh the Jerry Tarkanian of college hockey?
        Is Maine no different than other Div 1 teams -- or a lot worse?
        Should the Black Bears still be included in the polls?
 
o  Jack Parker and his team selection for the World Junior Championships:
        Why did he snub the Junior league players?
        Did the team suffer or improve?
 
o  Div I independents, Div II/III promotions:
        Should more teams be promoted up to Div I?
        Would the talent pool suffer greatly?
        Are Div I independents really Div I?
        Should Div I players for independents be considered for D1 statistics?
 
 
and finally, the ever popular:
 
o  Fighting, roughing, penalties:
        Should we just let these kids kill each other, or what?
