I too was at MSU about the same time (1989-92).  Fortunately I had season
tickets on the Blue Line.  No, Munn has not been expanded.  It is still
very very hard to get tickets.
 
I do know that MSU plays in the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament in
Detroit on Dec 29-30 (I think?).  Their first game is against Cornell.
You might be able to get tickets for those games at Joe Lewis.  I don't
think that it sells out.
 
I went to the GLI tournament last year while visiting Michigan.  It was a
great game.  MSU beat UofM in overtime.  Have a good holiday.
