This didn't seem to make it out yesterday, so I am resubmitting it.
I should add that the newspaper said that Montreal would "accommodate
Hill's desire to play in the Olympics."
Hill Goes Pro
--------------
Junior defenseman Sean Hill is scheduled to sign today with Montreal.
Hill said he will receive a two year contract plus an option year. He
said it is a one-way pact, meaning Hill will be paid his NHL wage even if
he is sent to the minor leagues. Hill declined to reveal the value of the
pact, but sources said it was worth $900,000.
[Methinks hockey salaries are following the lead of other pro North American
sports at last.]
Recruits
---------
Expected to sign today:
(twins) Mark and Mike Strobel Hill-Murray HS, Minn (defense, forward)
Maco Balkovec Merritt, British Columbia (defenseman)
Signed during fall:
Brian Rafelski Madison Capitols (Junior A) (defense)
Chris Tok Coleraine, Minn (defense)
Kelly Fairchild Grand Rapids, Minn (forward)
Above news from Wis. State Journal. Corrections and comments welcome.
