Ken Klee, who played for Bowling Green State University has surprised
everybody by having a great training camp and beating out very strong
competition for the 6th defensive position on the Washington Capitals.
He was drafted 177th overall in the 1990 draft and has played with the
Portland Pirates for the last several years. He got his chance to play
with the Capitals when Captain Kevin Hatcher couldn't be signed. (He
wanted $3.25 million per year and was offered only $2.5 million. It
looks as he may sign with the Detroit Vipers in the IHL for approximately
$1 million per year with an escape clause to return to the Capitals if
he's signed. Does this make sense to anybody?)
