In an earlier posting I stated that I thought that
Dave MacIsaac played his worst game ever against UMass. I must
apologize as I confused Dave with number 7 Mansoff. So to set
the record straight I thought Mansoff had a very off night. Then
again I'm sure he could mop the ice with me on any given night. :).
The strentgh that Maine has this year is that if any of
the players happen to have a bad night there's someone there to
pick-up the slack.
Prior to the start of the 93-94 (infamous for Maine) season,
I recall an interview on TV with Paul Kariya in which he said, "This
team is going to surprize a lot of people. We don't have a lot of
experience, but there's a lot of very talented players that no one has
heard of who are going to be very good." Paul indicated that thought
in many ways the team was better then the 92-93 NCAA champion team,
as he felt it was more balanced. Well last years team did surprize
everyone with all the of off-ice stuff, which I'm sure he was not
refering, but in a way what Paul saw in his teammates that year is
now coming true this season. I think everyone is surprized at what
this team has accomplished to date. This is purhaps the last time
these guys will be known as a no name team. (Imes excluded from the
no name gang :) ).
