It was not a pretty game, and it was often mired down in peanlties, but in the
playoffs you take them however they come. Tonight BG took one from the
visiting Irish 7-2.

The Falcons started off first with a beautiful shot from the blue line (left) by
Kelly Perrault. Another third of the way through the period Brian Holzinger,
on a breakaway, puts one high over Matt Eisler's left side.

In the second period, the only goal to mention was again for the Falcons, as
Holzinger makes a beautiful drop back to a waiting Perrault who slams it home,
again on the left side.

The third period saw the scoring burst wide open, as well as Notre Dame light
the light for the first time. Jeremy Coe's major penalty for Cross Checking
late in the 2nd period comes back to haunt the Irish as BG takes advantage
early in the 3rd with a 5 on 3 goal scored off of Mike Hall. Notre Dame was to
finally get on the scoreboard with a shot by Terry Lorenz @ 1 minute later. BG
was to score a 2nd power play goal - this time from Brian Holzinger 2 minutes
later. Notre Dame even managed to make its power play click as they scored
their 2nd (and final) goal from Steve Noble. Once again, we see that offensive
wonder, Chad Ackerman, send one home as, from the blue line, he shoots one in
unassisted for the Falcons. And, ending the scoring, Mike Hall gets a 2nd
power play goal.

The play was rough, and the penalty section of the stats is probably the more
interesting part of this game. I would point out that Ackerman managed 1 goal
and 3 assists for 4 points tonight. Will Clarke looked good in net, but the
inactivity at his end may have caught up with him in the 3rd period. Bob
Petrie will be starting tomorrow night's game. The Falcon power play was 50%
tonight, and penalty killing was 75%.
