  There has been substantial discussion on h-l in the past about the
history of this tournament.  A search of the h-l archives ought to turn
up these messages.  Among other things, one should remenber that College
Hockey was not nearly as strongly organized at the time GLI started
(including - there was no CCHA, HE (or LSSU at that time)).  And, MTU
had one of the major prime movers of College Hockey as its coach.  Without
his efforts, I can't believe we'd be seeing the game we are today
