Summary:

Harvard shut out Union 4-0 Friday night, but if not for the
outstanding play of goaltender Luigi Villa, it could have been much
worse. It was the first shutout against the Dutchmen in 118 games,
dating back to a 10-0 win by Merrimack on Jan 30, 1988.

The story of the game for Harvard was Ted Drury, who had 2 goals and an
assist. But Villa was the story for Union. His 37 save performace
follows a good job in relief of Mike Gallant in the season opener
against Army. He has established himself as the #1 goalie after
spending last season in a rotation with Gallant.

Possibly the worst news for Union was the loss of freshman Chris Sears,
who left the game during the second period with a broken hand. Sears
had been playing on the top line with Chris Albert and Jayson Flowers.

Union falls to 0-1 in the ECAC and 0-2 overall, while Harvard is now 2-0
in the ECAC. Union will play at Brown tonight, and RPI will play at
Harvard.
