The New Hampshire Wildcats took full measure of the Bears this evening,
blanking Brown, 3-0, while showing a dazzling display of speed and quickness
on the Whittemore Center olympic-size ice sheet. Badly outshot in the first
two periods (34-9), the Bears' senior goaler Yann Danis nonetheless held his
team in the game until UNH finally broke through midway into the second
frame with two goals coming 21 seconds apart.

Unable to contain the Wildcats, and adding to their difficulties by
giving UNH a game total of eight power plays, Brown's only serious scoring
threats came during the last seven minutes of the game when the Bears
enjoyed a 5x3 manpower advantage for 1:18, fired 8 shots on Wildcat senior
goaltender Mike Ayers, and came away empty.

All the UNH scoring took place in the middle stanza after Danis had
stopped the first 25 Wildcat shots. New Hampshire sophomore forward Brian
Yandle scored a power play goal at 9:36 when he rifled a shot by Danis from
the left point, and then senior forward Tyler Scott quickly doubled the lead
at 9:57 when the Bear defense was caught out of position in front of the
Brown goal and Scott fired a rebound home from just outside the crease.
Junior forward Sean Collins tallied a shorthanded goal at 17:39 to close out
the scoring as his shot from the bottom of the left circle caught the upper
left corner of the net. The final goal was the first shorthanded score
allowed by the Bears this season.

The Bears will now seek to regroup and revive their dormant offense as
they prepare to host Merrimack College next Tuesday in a 7:00 p.m. game at
Meehan Auditorium.
