Subject: [MELIBS-L] literacy help adult with aphasia -audiobook access

EXTERNAL: This email originated from outside of the State of Maine Mail System. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the sender and know the content is safe.

Good afternoon,

My patron had a stroke which left her with aphasia. She has minimal
speech difficulty, but now has a hard time finding the right words and
labeling items, and is basically unable to read. She seems well on her
way to recovery, past the preschool phase and is moving on to grade 2
and 3 workbooks from school zone, which she started with her OT.
Androscoggin Home Health has someone working with her.

Being a preschool teacher for 25 years has given me some background but
this is different. I could use suggestions for a quick way to access
audiobooks for her now. She does not have a CD player but is willing to
get one; has a basic smart phone but not confident she can use
cloudLibrary...will try that next time.

Could I borrow playaways? I have not used them and am sure there are
other ways for people to listen to books. I have much to learn in this
department. Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

Andrea
