I can't claim a 50-year allegiance to my team, but I have been on Hockey-L
since about 1988. I am a lifer in terms of rooting for Notre Dame
anything, and as such, I am also a fan of the many quality CCHA opponents.
When I was an undergrad (1981-85), I used to do game films for the Irish.
My first interaction with Dave Poulin (current ND coach) was on a
freshman-year road trip to Kalamazoo Michigan to play Western Michigan.
Notre Dame lost the Friday game and at dinner after the game, Dave Poulin
told me, "You make us lose . . you're never coming with us again!" Of
course he was joking, and got me laughing. That 1981/82 team was a great
team (won the 1981 Great Lakes Invitational (I still have the helmet Dave
Laurian (goaltender) wore in that tournament . . not that it would matter
to anyone, but it matters to me!)
Enough reminiscing . . today belong to the current players. Even though I
live now In San Jose and it is hard to keep tabs, I am thankful for
Hockey-L to help me stay up to date. Cheers and back to lurk mode . .
