Now that the MAAC and CHA have had some competition against the older
conferences- would anyone care to venture as to their impact on D1 hockey- my
thoughts:

a) each of those schools (except USAFA &USMA) are now offering 10-12
scholarships which is definitely taking players away from the middle of the
road and low end programs of ECAC and Hockey East. The ECAC (theoretically
non-athletic scholarship for the most part) would seem to eventually be
diluted by the Quinnipiacs and Niagaras- these schools will definitely be
on-target to be post season teams and nothing breeds success like success and
the opposite side of the coin is that nothing breeds failure like failure
b)given the ECAC limit on games and lack of a consistent contender for
NCAA-plus some daunting academic programmes- I think ECAC and MAAC/CHA are on
a collision course with parity.
