That is precisely my point.  A championship should be important to any team that
wins it. And to the victor goes the spoils.  Why should these two teams be worthy
of any greater consideration than anyone else?  Is it just because BU won the
title five straight years up until now that it's special all of a sudden?  You
can't tell me that whenever BU won those titles that the team and their fans
didn't care about it.  And if Maine set a precedent back in 1993, then the
precedent should have been enforced.
 
BU does care about its accomplishments, but to be frank has never made an issue
of regular season championships.  They have banners recognizing their NCAA, HEA,
ECAC, and Beanpot championships, along with a banner citing their Final Four
(sic) appearances.  Nowhere except in the media guide will you see mention of a
regular season title.  It does not excuse the league, however, of allowing a team
to bypass a ceremony which the players and their fans can all enjoy.
