Well, it seems I misspoke just a bit. The "new" Holiday Tournament I
spoke of above will NOT be held in December as I'd originally been told,
but over the Thanksgiving weekend. In effect, this "new" tournament will
replace the expiring Governor's Cup Tournament (that Dave mentions), which
ends its 4-year experiment after this year after having run its course in
each of the 4 participants home arenas. Although the "Gov Cup" may have
sounded good on paper as an upcountry answer to the Beanpot, none of the
coaches really liked using 2 of their NC games against teams they already
met several times during the regular season. So, a 4-league Tournament
was drawn up instead that maximizes NC inter-league match-ups that the
coaches want (exposure to differing styles of play, PWR considerations,
etc.). As a fan, I like the opportunity such tournaments provide to see
teams I might otherwise never get a chance to see (other than in potential
NC$$ matchups), so I'm all in favor of this trend. Watching my beloved
Wildcats in action vs. the Sioux at the Whitt is a treat I don't plan to
miss !! :-)

Cheers from the Chesapeake - Jim
