some thoughts on Army- Nebraska-Omaha

UNO- good skating team with two high quality players - Jason White & Andrew
Tortorella. Tortorella who was probably passed over by other D1 schools due
to his stature (5'5"-listed) will probably be a real impact player.
Goaltender Jason Mitchell had a good game and was unfortunately dqed for
coming off the bench during an altercation. Defeneseman Sean Cavan (6'4")
would have fouled out of a basketball game- in fairness to all the players-
Gallagher (don't have his 1st name) refereed both games and seemed content to
call penalty after penalty with many marginal ones and dives being called
left and right. This team must be dynamite at home and I wonder if Army is
going out there next year. I assume UNO will be looking to recruit heavily in
the USHL and will gradually wean itself of foreign players. Hopefully this
program will promote youth hockey in Nebraska.
ARMY- The "Golden Gopher Line" of Andy Lundbohm (6 3 Roseau) Greg Buckmeier
(6 1 Fergus Falls) & Plebe Jon Toftey (6 3 Duluth) caused all kinds of
problems for the Mavericks (pretty ironic- where was Doug Woog- Army has 12
Minnesotans). The Cadets got excellent blue line work from Capt. Tony Felice;
Darren Clapprood, Jim Smith, John Williams; Don Sisson; Joel Jamison; TJ
McMeniman. Daryl Chamberlain was brilliant in goal on Saturday and Corey
Winer (27/28shots) was outstanding on Friday. This was projected as a
rebuilding year. Princeton on Tuesday will be a good test.
