Actually, there are two (not counting 0-0-0 Holy Cross and
UConn :-)), and they play this Friday when 4-0-2 Princeton visits
4-0-1 Cornell.

It was funny to read in the Burlington Free Press this morning
about how UVM had earned a tie against nationally-ranked Cornell. I
think my fellow Big Red supporters were unanimous in feeling that our
#7 ranking was undeserved, especially when RPI wasn't even in the top
ten. Close wins over Union and Niagra are hardly going to get the
Engineers any more votes, but tying UVM will presumably drop Cornell
down as well. Three points on the road was a respectable result given
the way we've been playing this season (Northeastern, Brown and
Dartmouth may go down as three in the 'W' column, but I doubt you
could put together 60 minutes of good hockey from those three games),
but should poke a hole in Cornell's inflating ranking. (Although if
the Free Press still has a representative among the voters...)

Not that I'm trying to slag my team; we've done well to start
off 3-0-1 in the league, and only give up seven goals in four games,
given how thin our defense is, but with Princeton and RPI coming up in
the next couple of weeks, Cornell will need to take it up a notch from
this weekend's level.
