Colorado College wasn't able to reduce "the magic number" towards
clinching the championship, as North Dakota defeats the Tigers 5-3
tonight in Grand Forks. UND struck first at 6:28, as Teeder Wynne
got a goal. Almost 6 minutes later, Peter Geronazzo evened up the
score with a power play goal. The Sioux would regain the lead a few
minutes later on their own power play goal by Ryan Johnson, and finished
off the period with a breakaway by Curtis Murphy with 40 seconds left,
to take a 3-1 lead into the locker room.
3:27 into the second CC came within one when Calvin Elfring got a
power play goal, his third of the season. But UND's Kevin Hoogsteen
would regain the two-goal lead at about the halfway mark duringg 4-on-4
play.
The Tigers came within one againn as R.J. Enga put in a rebound goal
at 5:34 of the third. With a minute left, Bach was pulled from the net,
but just as they have done to their opponents, the Sioux responded with
an empty net goal by Sean Beswick to seal the win at 5-3.

The Three stars of the game:

1. Teeder Wynne (UND)
2. Toby Kvalevog (UND)
3. Ryan Johnsonn (UND)

In other WCHA action, St. Cloud beat Alaska Anchorage, Michigan Tech
beat Northern Michigan, and Minnesota was leading Denver. Same two
teams tomorrow night.
