Regarding Title IX:
 
One solution that works for some Eastern schools is to have a womens'
hockey program as well.  Unfortunately, there is not as much interest
in womens' hockey (I went to Cornell, and as far as I know hardly
anyone went to the womens' games), so it would be unlikely to become a
revenue-generator anytime soon.  Perhaps the situation at schools with
more dominant womens' teams is different, though.
