Here's a few more. No offense intended, Mike M. and Cheeseheads:

Wisconsin virus: Unable to infect computers made in Minnesota, at least this
year. Rages out of control, causing data-transfer-line clogs in networks, but
somehow never seems to cause damage equal to its potential.

Minnesota virus II: causes start-up problems in October and November.

Kent State virus: immediately shuts down the program.

ESPN virus: only turns up once a year, but nobody notices because the
pituitary-ball FF is going on. (BTW, thanks to whomever it was I stole that
from. Love that term!)

AIM virus: (named for the American Indian Movement) deletes the word
"Fighting" whenever it appears immediately before the word "Sioux". This virus
has only been known to affect the Star-Tribune computer system thus far.

Ceramic Dalmation virus: totally harmless, but people overload the system
discussing it.

Hockey Cheerleader virus: same as "Ceramic Dalmation virus", except people from
the Upper Midwest don't think it's any big deal.

Newbie virus: fills system with "PLEASE ADD ME TO YOUR DISCUSSION LIST"
messages.

rec.sport.hockey virus: fills screen with messages too foul and immature to
repeat.

Mike Machnik virus: causes frequent long messages to appear on your screen,
often containing excerpts from the NC$$ hockey rulebook. There's a vaccine for
this one involving sending an "unsubscribe hockey-l" message to
[log in to unmask], according to Smith (1992, 1993, 1994).

Bob Ames virus: this one's brutal, just brutal. (Some believe this is the
Western variant of the Eastern "Pierre" virus. Others believe it's related to
the dreaded "Medo" virus that swept through the West several years ago.)

Blaine Lacher virus: has been known to shut out all data transfer for weeks at
a time.

Northeastern virus: some reports indicate that this one can't infect computers
made in Czechoslavakia (Lacher, et al, 1994).
