CAR CRASH KILLS DEFENSEMAN, 25
From THE DETROIT NEWS [last week]

Kansas City Blades defenseman Mike Colman, who played at Ferris
State in 1989-90, died Tuesday in a one-car crash.

Colman, 25, lost control of the car he was driving at a high rate
of speed and struck a concrete wall in suburban Platte Woods,
police said. He was alone at the time of the crash.

He was the "epitome of a professional athlete," said Jim Wiley,
coach of the International Hockey League team.

"He was very well respected by his teammates for his work ethic,"
Wiley said. "He was a person who had few words. His actions spoke
louder, and I think everyone will remember him in that vein."

A memorial service was scheduled for Thursday.

Colman played 15 NHL games with the San Jose Sharks. He had one
assist and 32 penalty minutes.
