After recieving several private responses about a certain line
from my previous post, I feel I owe a large apology to the State of
Alabama, to all people who play youth and high school hockey in 'Bama, and
to all fans of Universtiy of Alabama-Huntsville hockey. In my previous
post I said:

> But that does not mean that coaches can't recruit players from wherever
> their hearts desire ... that's called free choice. If Michigan (this is
> just an example ... nothing against Michigan) chooses to recruit players
> from Alabama, then that's their choice!!

I apologized for saying Michigan but forgot to apologize for the
use of Alabama. I am well aware of the development of quality youth
hockey programs and of high school hockey as well in Alabama.
Furthermore, the University of Alabama-Huntsville is off to a stellar
start in DivisionII hockey with an 8-1-1 record. BY this, I did not mean
to say that Alabama has low quality hockey, but rather to point out that
Alabama, like my own home state of Maine, is not often thought of as a
"Hockey Hotbed" as is Mass and Minnesota. I'm sure that there are quality
players in Alabama who have to ability to play DivI in the future (as IMHO
Maine high school hockey does) but is often overlooked as a place to
recruit from ... (I can think of only 4 players from Maine who are
currently playing DivI hockey and only one who came straight out of high
school into a college program) ... and again I apologize.
