I originally sent this text to Wayne, in a personal reply, but I think
it applies to the list in general.  The relevant text follows:
 
I've been struggling with a double standard, however.  I hate seeing
anything thrown onto the ice, and I constantly flame on any UM students
that do this, but...
 
I make an exception for hats after a hat trick.  Many would argue, what's
the difference between 500 hats and 500 tennis balls?  They are both
thrown after your team scores a goal.  To this I could only say that
you have to be familiar with hockey to understand the exception.
 
I hate to say it, but in this case I support a double standard.
