Tonight in front 3408 fans at the Volpe Complex at Merrimack in North Andover,
Mass., the Merrimack Warriors played a valiant game against the Boston College
Eagles. The Eagles, coming in were ranked number two in some polls. Merrimack
did their very best, but came up short 3-2.

The first period was called at 14:33 when a piece of glass broke. It also
happened at 3:39 in the second. The second one happened right in front of me.
I'll say this, Jim Gibson, Merrimack's freshman forward deserves credit. He
was checked through the glass, and hit his ribs on the top of the boards. He
was hurt, but continued.

There was no scoring in the first period. The period was very even.

In the second period, Dave Emma opened the games scoring at 15:08. The assists
went to Marc Beran and Steve Heinze.

BC scored to make it two to nothing before the end of the second period.
Marty McInnis scored a power play goal at 16:42. Merrimack's Teal Fowler was
off for a cross check. The assists went to Bill Guerin and Dave Emma.

In the third period, Merrimack scored two to tie the score. The first was
scored by Merrimack's Agostino Casale. Casale, probably Merrimack's top
forward, scored from Dan Gravelle and Claude Maillet at 3:58.

Jeff Massey scored the other Merrimack goal at 5:31. The goal was unassisted.

But with :51 seconds left in the game BC had a two on one. Defenseman Matt
Hentges was back for the Warriors. Guerin came over the line and fired a
wrist shot over Merrimack goalie Steve D'Amore's glove. The game winning goal
was a pretty shot. I don't know if Hentges got a piece of it. I think he
did, but everyone else says no.

Shots:

		1 1A* 2 3 Total
Boston College 8 1 16 10 35
Merrimack 10 2 10 13 35

1A* refers to shots after the period was called for the aforementioned broken
glass.

Saves:

Gallupo (BC) 1 1A* 2 3 Total
Gallupo (BC) 10 2 10 11 33
D'Amore (MC) 8 1 14 9 32

Scoring:

		1 1A* 2 3 Total
Boston College 0 0 2 1 3
Merrimack 0 0 0 2 2

I think Merrimack played better than they did last time when the two teams met.
In that game, BC outshot Merrimack 37-20. In that game, BC's LaGrand played
net. Maybe that was why Gallupo played. The biggest surprise for me was
that Yannick "Goose" Gosselin didn't start in goal. He is back and is the
Merrimack starter. I was told that he is waiting for a game with less
importance. I still think that Goose should have been in there.

Merrimack's next game is Tuesday night against the Boston University Terriers.
BU was winning last I heard, 3-2 at UNH. Merrimack has lost 3 of their last 4.
The only win came over the winless Dartmouth team.
