Union came out strong early in the game, scoring a quick goal, and putting good
pressure on Potsdam goalie Andy Eckert. Union held the Potsdam no no shots on
goal in that period. In the second period, the Ducthmen's play became almost as
sloppy as the Bears'. No one could connect a pass cleanly. In the third period,
both teams' play improved offensively. Fortunately for the Bears, their goalie
was up to the challenge for the most part, stopping partial breaks and 2 on
1's more than once in the 3rd.

In an interesting move late in the game, Potsdam pulled their goalie on the
power play with over 3 minutes left in the game, trailing 5-2. Union had a few
shots sail wide of the open net (remember they were on a 6-4 disadvantage, so
they could ice the puck). Neither team scored on the 6 on 4, and Potsdam's
goaile returned to the net when the penalty expired. Now on a 5 on 5, with
almost 2 minutes left, Potsdam again pulled their goalie, but this time Craig
Ferrero's shot at the empty net went in, giving the Dutchmen the 6-2 lead.
