Anyone not aware that hockey is frought with concussions
has not been reading the paper too much lately. Brett
Lindros (Eric's brother) retired from the Islanders last
season from a problem with recurring concussions. There
have been almost a dozen NHL players that I have read about
that have been put on injury scratch lists for multiple
        games due to concussions.

We had a HS goalie here last year suffer a concussion going to
the bench on a penalty change...tripped in a rut and hit his
head on the skull plate in the back of his fitted mask.

If you watched the NHL All-Star game this year, a number of
players were wearing new helmets by Bauer. The on-air guys
were saying that the helmets were not only lighter, but were
more protective, and helped to better protect players from
        receiving concussions.

Sounds like the issue is being recognized and addressed,
        anyway.
