The NHL has done a study that shows that, of the current players in teh
NHL, 17.3% come from U.S. colleges. On this list, there has been a lot
of debate of where, in the U.S. the most hockey players come from.
You'll notice that, for NHL players, the state with the most is
Massachusetts. It would be interesting to see this kind of breakdown
for college players.

From this morning's Washington Post:

The NHL has done a study of the birthplacaes of NHL players. In 1967-68,
Canada supplied 96.7% of NHL players, but there are currently only
62.3% of the players who were born in Canada.

In 1967-68:
Canada - 96.7%
United States - 2.0%
Outside North America - 1.3%
