Here are some quotes from UNH AD Gib Chapman on yesterday's conference all between
HE AD's and their decision to postpone action aginst Maine.
"It would be premature to take any action before texx the NCAA does. It would
xxscratch "it would", sorryxx "As you know, ix we can be more stringent than the NCAA, but
not more lenient."
"The NCAA will let us know by Friday. At that time, Hockey East ADs will
        reconviene by conference call."
I"It's unfortunate human error at Maine. I Don't thinh anybody tried to cover-up
anything."
"Whenever you start forfieting games, it hurts not only the tealent of the other players
buy it reflects back poorly on the league."

Basically, the AD's unanimously decided to do nothing. What a surprise. A few thoughts.
1.There are reason's why the NCAA walks all over college hockey. The fact that ADs have no
capacity to assert themselves is one of the biggestt. Any college basketball conference
would've pulled the trapdoor on Maine with little discussion The next time the NCAA decides to
run some ridiculous rule like Prop.31 down everyone's throats, they know they won't get much prot
protest. College hockey as a whole doesn't have the guts.

2.Prediction-- The NCAA will take the Tardif incident along with Tory and INgraham and lump
the whole thing under lack of institutional control" a la Syracuse a few years back. It
rolls everything into one neat package. The punishment-- No NCAA tournament this year throwing
whether HE wants Maine in their tourney back into the hands of the HE Ads. THEN, no tournament
NCAA next year, AND no TV in 94-95 either. This sounds harsh but it is the standard NCAA sentence
when things start pilining up even if some of them aren't intentional (Ingraham, Tardif).
It's the same thing UNLV and Syracuse got when a lot of minor violations began to add up.

3.I wonder what role BC AD Chet Gladchuk is taiking in these discussions. What Maine did or did
not do has got to be the most insignifigant flea, compared to him and his prized football team.
A brief moment during the conference call:
        "Hey Gary, you hear snoring?"
        "zzzzzz-- Tom! Don't go! Don't go!......Oh Maine...."
**Quick survey...Odds that Plozek get fired over the summer. I say 10-1.
