> tie with
>the 6th ranked Maine Black Bears in HOCKEY EAST action on Friday, March 3 at
>PC's Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I.
> In a conservative first period, the two teams were tied at 1-1
> after 20
>minutes of play. Chris Heisten scored for the Black Bears (5:22) and Drew
>Omicioli netted the Friars' goal (16:15).

> for seven
>goals. Maine took a 4-1 lead with three consecutive goals by Heisten at
>:34, Ben Guite at 3:28 and Martin Kariya at 4:40. PC's Doug Sheppard

>However, the Friars refused to give up and battled back to score two goals
>before the end of the second period. Adam Lee got the Friars' third goal
>when he rushed down the left side and banked a shot in off Maine goaltender
>Matt Yeats at 13:42. Peter Fregoe scored PC's final goal of the second
>period when he wristed in his own reboound at the 16:31 mark.
> The Friars came out flying in the third period and Jon
> DiSalvatore scored
>from the top of the crease to force a 5-5 tie at the 3:49 mark. Just 19
>seconds later the Friars took their first lead of the game when Lee tallied
>his second goal of the contest. The Friars held the lead and looked like
>they might earn their eighth upset of the season over a ranked team, but
>Maine took advantage of a fluke play in the Friars end. Cory Larose pushed
>the puck of a PC player's stick past Friar goaltender Boyd Ballard at the
>15:10 mark for the final goal of the night.
> Neither team was able to generate much offense in overtime as
> Maine outshot
>PC, 3-1, in the extra period.

> the Friars.
>Yeats made 27 stops for the Black Bears.
