Michigan State's hockey team officially started practice on Monday,
Sept. 29. The team has one week to prepare before the annual Green and
White game this Friday, Oct. 3. Sat. night the team plays an exhibition
game versus the University of Guelph, last year's Canadian collegiate
champs. Coach Ron Mason scheduled this game because he felt the team
needed to play a game against a real opponent before battling BU in the
Icebreaker Tournament.

In other news from last week, MSU was selected by the coaches and the
media to finish first in the CCHA, with Michigan a close second in both
polls. The coaches I heard comments from said the MSU defense and
goaltending is their strength. With the loss of Center Mike Watt to
Edmonton and Winger Rich Keyes to academics, the Spartans probably won't
have many blowouts.
