According to Boston Globe's NCAA Notebook, the proposal that would require a
sport to have a mininium number of schools (40) to conduct a national
championship was rejected, thus saving (according to the Globe)
champiosnhips in men's gymnastics.
 
I assume that the NCAA DivII Men's Ice Hockey Championship (such as it is)
will also be spared.
